• "Merely a Smell" awarded Dok Leipzeg’s Golden Dove

  Merely a Smell was awarded The International Jury for Documentary Film award (the Golden Dove) of "The International Leipzig Festival for Documentary and Animated Film - DOK Leipzig", the largest German and one of the leading international festivals for artistic documentary and animated films.

  Merely a Smell Synopsis : On a boat bringing aid to a besieged Beirut, a loudspeaker lauds the passengers for their courage in coming to the rescue of the afflicted. From under the rubble of destroyed buildings, relief workers pull the bodies of the dead. Moving between light and darkness, life and its extinction, bodies redraw the boundaries of other bodies, the smell of death cloaking all.   Le prix Ulysse a été remis à Maher Abi Samra pour son documentaire Chatila. Une dotation de 3000 euros est remis par la Médiathèque centrale d’Agglomération Emile-Zola et la Médiathèque Fellini de Montpellier.
